Outlook 97 User Profile problems under XP

I am only able to use outlook 97 in windows XP if the
profile name is "Microsoft Outlook". If I attempt to use
any other profile name, outlook starts then bombs with a
generic OUTLOOK.EXE has encountered a problem dialog. It
does not matter whether I have a single profile or miltiple
profiles, the olny one that will let outlook start is the
one named "Microsoft Outlook"

Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
