Outlook 98 Out of Memeory

When you try to attach a document to an email within
Outlook 98 where the path is very long (has many sub
folders) you get an error message stating "out of system
resources..........". This I believe is because Outlook 98
has a limit to the filename path. The same error does not
occur in Outlook 2002. Therefore does anyone know of a
patch that can be applied to outlook 98 to prevent this
from happening or is the only solution to upgrade to
Outlook 2000 or later?

Thanks

If you select Help | About Microsoft Outlook. What does the version/build
number show? (will be something like 8.5.XXXX. you should be at a minimum
of 8.5.6204) So I think you are right that you are missing a patch or 2.

Yes, we only have version 8.5.5104.6 so it does look like
we're missing a couple of patches, can you just get the
updates from the Microsoft homepage? And would you know
which ones I need?

Thanks for your help

Yep, you can still download Outlook 98 patches from
http://office.microsoft.com

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx? FamilyID=5D865C89-8BAC-42C0-AFCD-
53E74E152234&displaylang=en
should fix the error.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx? FamilyID=3260EBBB-345D-4A90-B7A3-
9166256A248E&displaylang=en
will bring you up to the version I noted. (this corrects the archiving
function so users don't experience data loss under a specific condition.)
