Outlook and autofill?

M

Mark Bowles

When typing in an email address it will display others that match that are
previously used ...almost like autofill or something. What is this
called...How do I clear it if necessary....Where is it stored?

Thanks for any help.

We need to know your Outlook version to answer that question (and most other
questions that are asked in these groups).

The two versions of Outlook have different features -- Outlook 2003 has an
AutoComplete feature while Outlook 2000 had Auto Resolution. See the
following for help with each feature (if you have more specific questions
later, feel free to post back):

Find the NK2 file as that is where autocomplete data is stored. You will
need to enable your "views" and "searches" to include system and hidden
files.

For more information on the autocomplete NK2 file, you may wish to review
the document found at: http://www.ingressor.com/autocompletetips.htm

The above document will also assist you in finding a commercially available
program that we developed for the editing, etc. of the NK2 file.

In case it's not clear from the article Randy pointed you to, you can copy
the NK2 file to another profile by renaming the existing NK2 file from the
2nd profile and putting a copy of the first profile's NK2 file in the same
folder -- make sure it has the filename of the profile you're associating it
with (like mark.nk2).

Hello,

I have a question,

I was helping one of my familys friends with their outlook. I helped them
with something but i messed up someting.

The problem is when she is trying to send an email to someone , outlook does
not autofill and email address from her address book or contacts in outlook
2003

For example if [email protected] is in her address book. and she types "ed" in
"To:" nothing comes up.

Please let me know exactly where the option is..

Thank you very much

Ashley

The autocompletion feature does not reference the Contacts is any way. It
simply remembers the most recent 1,000 recipieint addresses used. If you
created a new mail profile at any time, the autocompletion cache for that
profile will start empty and should populate as she continues to send
messages.
