Outlook and opening attachments

I'm sending attachments (specifically Word) to someone, but they're unable to
(1) open the document from the email and/or (2) save the document to a drive
and open. It's almost as if the document is being sent as a link because the
error message the comes up says to verify the destination drive or link.
I've even sent the document (as an attachment) to myself at a different
address and the same thing happens. I'm confused and doesn't look very
professional when dealing with a new customer! <ack!>

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else had this happen? I'm
beside myself and don't know what to do!

Make sure you're not sending in Rich Text format, since only another Outlook
user will be able to handle the attachments if you do.

Would the icon still show as a Word document in the attachment area? I'm not
at the computer I sent the document from, but I will doublecheck it once I
get home. I also wondered if there's a setting within Outlook that I need to
reset?

It's on both sides - the icon is "W" for Word. The document is a form I
created. It's protected, but even when I unprotect it, the same problem
occurs.

I'm open to further suggestions. If you need more info, let me know!
