outlook and outlook express

Forget my ignorance, but can someone tell me the
difference between Outlook and Outlook Express and how
they work?

difference between Outlook and Outlook Express

One is a personal information manager which includes --amongst other
things-- a powerful e-mail client. The other is a barebones e-mail program
and a newsreader that's barely usable; and is worth every penny you paid
for it.

and how they work?

Right. There are books out there with like 2,500 pages explaining just
that.
