Outlook Archive PST file always loads at startup

I have created an Archive PST from my Outlook email client, with the
idea that this would not only reduce the size of my main Personal PST
file, but also that it would not load at startup, saving startup time
and RAM usage. Note that I still want to be able to see that archive
folder in my list of folder in the Outlook mail client, but I'd just
like that Archive PST file to not load into memory until I I need to
use it (for moving emails from my Personal folder into the archive for
example). Unfortunately Outlook seems to always load both my Personal
and Archive PST files at startup, which is taking a very very long
time, as my archive file is very large indeed (as I try to keep my
Personal PST file small for performance reasons). Anyone found a
solution to this simple problem? Thanks

Version of OL?
size of pst's?
The pst's do not load in memory, however having multiple pst's, open in OL,
may cause a performance hit in OL.
There is no need to have the archive pst open, in OL, unless you wish to
manually move mail to it.

My mail Outlook.pst file is 720MB, and my Archive.pst file is 251MB.
I have compacted both of these pst files. Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360)
SP1 takes a really long time to start up with these 2 large pst files.
I was assuming that some sort of indexing information was loaded up
into memory somehow.

These sizes are not large, quite small actually.
Perhaps you have some OL addins?, AV software plugin? etc
I'm assuming you have a reasonable pc specification.
