Outlook & Attachments

I have two computers. Both are running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3 with
all the same security updates. Both are running Outlook 2003, Service Pack
3, with all the same security updates (neither are running on an Exchange
Server).

On "Computer 1", email attachments (images, .pps, etc) function what I
consider to be properly - when the attachment is clicked, it opens the file;
for example, the pps opens and displays. On "Computer 2", the same exact
emails with the same exact attachments do not work properly - when clicking
the pps attachment, it asks if I want to open, save or cancel; clicking Open,
rather than opening the pps, displays the Save dialog with the save-as
options being "Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Macro-Enabled (*.ppsm)" or
"Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Show (*.ppsx)".

The registry settings for Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook under both
HKey_Local_Machine and HKey_Current_User are the same on both computers. The
differences between the two computers are:

Computer 1 has the full PowerPoint 2003 installed; Computer 2 has PowerPoint
Viewer 2007 installed. Both have Compatability Pack for Office 2007
installed, however Computer 1 has version 12.0.6425.1000 installed with
Service Pack 2 and security updates KB969618, KB969679, KB969613 and 972581;
Computer 2 has version 12.0.6021.5000 with Security Update KB951944.

Am trying to get Computer 2 to function in the same manner as Computer 1 and
allow me to open the attachments from within the email message(s). Can
anyone advise if the differences in PowerPoint or Compatability Pack might be
causing this and/or provide any assistance in getting this to work on
Computer 2? I have tried adding the Level1Remove registry setting and adding
..pps to that, which took away the Open option entirely.

Thanks
