hello! got a new computer and planning to take old computer harddrive and
slaving to the new one. i will be installing MS office 2003 on the new
computer (with XP, not Vista). i have tons of work emails in OUTLOOK folders
that i will need easily accessible on the new computer imediately. i believe
that i need to create the .pst and then IMPORT it into outlook on the new
computer. does anyone know if all my active folders will restore without
tons of efforts (i.e. will it work just the same as it did on my old
computer?) thanks for any reassurance and advice..

No, what you believe is incorrect, specifically Import.
Install office on the new PC, run Office update.
Locate your pst files on the old drive, copy them to My Documents on the new
PC
NB You may need to 'take ownership' of the old folder - see win help
Use the Mail Applet in the Control Panel to add the data file....browse to
your origonal, then add the accounts & test.
Then open Outlook
(You may also want to copy the 'username'.NK2 file, the auto complete cache)
