Outlook Backup Problem

I cannot find or use the pfback.exe program after downloading it from
Microsoft.

That did not work. According to the Outlook section on this site the backup
option should show up under Files on Outlook which it does not.

Did you install it?

Yes, but it did not show up under files.

Was Outlook running when you installed it? It should not have been.

Examine %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office10\Addins (or Office11\Addins)
and look for outbak.dll. Do you see it? If not, you didn't install it. If
so, start Outlook and click (depending on your Outlook version, which you
decided to keep secret) Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options>COM Add-Ins.
Click Add. Browse to outbak.dll that you found, select it, and click OK.
Click OK twice more and then stop and restart Outlook.

You're welcome.

May I continue this thread?

I have a major issue with this Outlook Backup facility that I downloaded
months ago and have been using regulary with Outlook2003. IT informed me that
my user domain was wrong so I changed that to a new domain not realizing that
this would create a new account. I managed to copy all my old data files
(incl. pst) to my new account but cannot get backup to work in Outlook2003.
When I downloaded a new copy and tried to install it I was told to uninstall
my existing backup copy in Control Panel, but there is no backup in Add or
Remove so I cannot uninstal or instal Backup

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Frank
