Outlook Calendar Items Disappearing

K

Kelly

Problem = All of my calendar items from 2001-mid-Sept. '08 have disappeared
(except the reoccurring ones) from Outlook 2003. Any ideas you have to remedy
this issue are much appreciated, as I need to recover these items for
business purposes.

Software Running: Windows XP Professional, Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.7
(just uninstalled it to ensure no Blackberry interference).

Recent Considerations:

-I attributed the disappearance of these items to either the Blackberry
syncs making anything over 60 days disappear, though this has now been ruled
out (I uninstalled Blackberry Desktop Manager altogether for now).

-I then tried to import a pst file from Sept. '08 that included everything
from 2001+, but only reoccurring appts. are restored.

-Back in Nov. '08, I began using Outlook's auto archive feature for items
beyond 60 days old, but this has been disabled since the recent .pst file
import, so it shouldn't be causing the issue of disappearing appts.

disappearing items are either caused by BB removing them or autoarchive.
They woulda been removed by the autoarchive the first time you used it.
Open the archive pst using file, open, outlook data file and browse the
pst's calendar - do you see the missing appointments?

Thank you for your reply, Diane.

I think it's a combination of both BB and autoarchive (AA). In following
your suggestion, I found calendar items from 2002-2003 in the "Deleted"
folder of the AA calendar (oddly, though, they are all dated 10/26/06).

So assuming BB and AA are the culprits, I have disabled both, and should be
able to restore all of these calendar items from a past intact .pst file,
right? Unfortunately, no. I have tried it multiple times, and only the
reoccurring items (birthdays) get placed back onto the calendar. Where
should I go from here?

Thank you again for your help.

I had similar problem. Simple Sollution (once I found it). I switched the
VIEW selection from "Day/Week/Month" to "Day/Week/Month View with
AutoPreview" and, BINGO, my missing appointments appeared on the calendar.

Hope this works for you.

how are you moving them to the original calendar?

Can you see them in By Category view? If so, the sync process caused it. Are
you using Exchange? if so, the admin will need to fix it. Point him to

I have not moved the archive calendar items in the Deleted folder from
2002-2003 (not a complete list anyways) to the original calendar yet. How
should I do it?

I cannot see the '02-'03 items in the Deleted box w/in the Archive file by
category view.

Not running MS Exchange...double-checked, and its Windows XP Media.

One more thing...I do think that the BB sync is part of the problem...when I
performed a sync on Monday, there were about 10 items from early Nov. in the
Deleted box thereafter (even though Oct. items remained).

When I searched BB forums, it said stuff about changing settings on the BB
to "Keep calendar items, etc. forever." There is no such setting on my BB.
At any rate, I removed BB Desktop from my PC yesterday, just to eliminate
this consideration. Still, I am unable to restore the 9/3/08 .pst file items
to my Outlook calendar past late Sept.

ok - just select the appointments and drag from deleted to the proper
calendar folder. you can also use the edit, move to folder command after
selecting them.

The setting is there somewhere. On my Storm, I open the calendar, click the
