Outlook cannot logon in a VM (Windows 2003 R2 SP2) ESX server

I have a VM (Windows 2003 R2 SP2) on an ESX server running Citrix (PS4)
published applications. I had a working outlook 2003 installation and have
subsequently upgraded to 2007 and Outlook will not open with the error
‘Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using
the proper server and mailbox name. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is
unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. ‘

I have tried adding the RPC registry key as suggested by Microsoft KB
article, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing has worked. I can launch
all the other applications without any problems. I have tested the same
installation on a Virtual Workstation and outlook works fine. I have rebuilt
the server a few times but get the same problem every time which is very
frustrating!

I am able to reverse lookup and ping the exchange server as well

Any suggestions are very welcome!

I am updating from office 2000 to office 2007 and I can not get outlook to
work. I get the message microsoft exchange not available. How do I verify the
outlok is on line and how do I verify that I am using the correct server and
mailbox names?

Are you using Exchange? If not, then why did you select it?

Go to Control Panel->Mail Icon->Accounts and remove the Exchange account and
add your POP3 account.
