Outlook Choosing Multiple contacts, emails, etc.

I was in one of my contacts and not sure what I did, but now when I try and
choose one contact or email it now highlights multiples of five. How do I fix
this?

What exactly are you doing where and in what version of Outlook?
It sounds like you have a stuck SHIFT key so that when you try to click
somewhere below the currently selected item, you make a list selection
instead. But without any details, it could be something totally different as
well.
