Outlook client greys delete button after user replies to an e-mail

We are running Exchange 2003 and Outlook client in cached mode on Windows XP
machines. One user reports that her Delete button greys out for about 5
minutes after she replies to an e-mail. What could cause this?

Does it matter what message she has selected when that happens or is she
unable to delete ANY message? Can she delete using the delete key on the
keyboard while the Delete button is greyed out? Do all other buttons still
work?

It doesn't matter which message she wants to delete, after she replies to an
e-mail her delete icon is grayed out on the toolbar. The delete key on the
keyboard does work and all other icons on the toolbar are available.
