Outlook client only shows new email when OL window in active mode!

Since we moved all user mailboxes from Exchange 5.5 server to Exchange 2003
server (still in mixed mode), some OL clients won't show/receive new emails
until the user click on OL window!
This was never a problem with Exchange 5.5. Can someone please let me know
how to fix it?
