Outlook Connector not working

Previously, I used Outlook Express to view my hotmail account. It worked
flawlessly. I have many subfolders under my Inbox with thousands of emails
in them. As we all know, MS recently changed their email protocol and now I
can’t use Outlook Express. I read somewhere that I could use the Outlook
Connector with my Enterprise 2007 Outlook. But I also read a lot of
skepticism and criticism about it, stating that it doesn’t work properly.
But I tried it anyways. I installed the connector and the initial start-up
of Outlook took a while to download all of the emails from the Online Hotmail
account. However, I noticed one of my emails in the Drafts folder only
partially downloaded. I’m not sure how to get this connector to work
properly. Since I noticed that one email in my Drafts folder didn’t download
entirely, I’m skeptical about the thousands of other emails in my other
folders. I don’t know if they downloaded properly and completely. Are there
bugs in this connector? How do I fix this and make it work properly. Or
should I just remove it entirely and use the online Hotmail?

What you usually don't read in newsgroups are remarks from people for which
it works flawlessly ;-)

If you switch to the Folder List Navigation in Outlook, you can check the
Sync Issues folder to see if there went anything wrong during the
send/receive interval.

If you used to work with Outlook Express before, you can also use Windows
Live Mail to continue to work with Hotmail.

Roady,

Could you please give me more info about Windows Live Mail? What is it? Is
it another email client like Outlook that I can download to my local PC to
read my hotmail? Where can I get it? Is it generally suggested to use Live
Mail instead of the Outlook Connector?

Thanks,

Windows Live Mail is the successor of Outlook Express and Windows Mail.
You can find more information about it here;
http://download.live.com/wlmail

It's a free mail client and for many "home environments" a good alternative
to Outlook (which costs money and is not included in the Home and Student
edition of Office 2007).

In the end, it depends on your needs but if all you have is a Hotmail
account and as you were working with Outlook Express before, I'd first take
a look at WLM before diving into Outlook with the Outlook Connector. I work
with both applications (for various reasons, not Live Hotmail specific), and
have no issues with either.

Roady,

If possible, I'd like to get the Outlook Connector working since I really
like Outlook. So, I have another question to your first reply...I switched
to Folder List Navigation by clicking the "Folder List" icon in the lower
left corner. What am I looking for to see what folders are not sync'd
properly? How do I determine where the sync problem is? The email in my
Drafts folder still is not downloaded properly.

I also noticed that if I mark items as Read or Unread in Outlook, the
changes won't show up in the web-based mail all the time (and vice versa). I
set the Send/Receive option to occur every 10 minutes in Outlook so I'd
expect them to sync the Read/Unread setting every 10 minutes. This doesn't
occur though. Am I doing something wrong?

Why aren't the Deleted Items sync'd? I have about 50 deleted items in
Hotmail but only about 5 in Outlook.

Thanks,
M Ridzon
