outlook contact notes won't allow me to save a colored font

Recently, in my outlook contacts, on the main contact page in the notes box,
when I enter text in a colored or bolded font, and then save it, and re-open,
the text has been changed back to black. Previously it would save the
colored (like red) text, but now won't. Seems odd. Any suggestions?
