Outlook Contacts - Backing Up to External Drive?

I would like to backup my list of contacts to an external drive (in
case I lose the Outlook file). What is the best way to back it up so
I can restore and/or reinstall if something bad happen, but also can
use the backup to import to another program if required to maintain my
list.

Oh, I forgot to add, I am using Office 2010.
