How do I make Outlook 2000 the default mailer for all of windows?

I want to right click on files in explorer and email; but a message
says that there is no email client set as default.

I am trying to email from Word 2000.

The error says,
"Logon failed: you must login to microsoft exchange to access your
address book. Unspecified error".

What is exchange? How do I do this?
