Outlook deleting emails from server

Chris

Windows 2000 running Outlook 2000 as well. Since fri, for whatever reasons
as I've done nothing to the program, Outlook is immediately deleting any
incoming emails from the server. It's never showing up in the Inbox.
Outlook Express which I opened to use in the meantime works fine. The 'view'
is set to 'messages'.

Hope that's enough information to help. I looked thru the archive and
couldn't find any solutions so any help is really appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

I take it you "want" it to keep messages on the server. Try removing the
account and adding it back, and see what happens then...

No Ivan, I'm using this at home on my personal pc. I just went thru Comcast
first who told me about the server aspect. I want to be able to download my
email thru OUtlook as normal.

Thanks!

Let me make sure I understand! And I quote, "Outlook is immediately deleting
any
incoming emails from the server" Do you mean it's downloading into Outlook
and you're not seeing ANY of them? OR, are you talking about the rule one
can have to download (POP) emails and leave a copy on the server?

If you're saying that it's downloading and you're just NOT seeing them,
check your rules, and your view (again, I know you've already checked the
view...), just make sure it's set to "messages", and not something else...

Ivan, I started having the exact same problems with OExpress today, had no
problems sending and recieving emails on the server, then I realized maybe my
spam blocker maybe the problem. I looked in the folder list to find Norton
AntiSpam folder and there were the missing emails! I've made no recent
changes to that program nor any of it's settings...set at medium...so I have
no idea why all of a sudden it changed it's rules (mayne online update I bet
now come to think about it?). Anyway, I lowered it to the low setting and I'm
recieving emails now with no problems.

Boy, sometimes it's the simplest of things. It had me going bonkers! I
truly appreciate your help anyway.

Take Care,
Chris

Chris,

Try enabling mail logging (I believe in O2k--someone correct me if I'm
wrong--: Tools/Options Maintenance tab. In the Troublshooting group). Send
the group a day of the POP3 log (be sure to keep the first couple of lines
showing the Outlook versions) where you know you had messages on the server
but they didn't appear in Inbox. If you're unconfortable puting server
names and IP addresses in the group, delete me; we don't need to know what
the server DNS name or IP is to help.

The log files are stored in the default Store location, whose path can be
viewed in the Tools/Options-Maintenance by clicking the "Store Folder..."
button.
