Outlook distribution lists, old members still getting messages

I have dumped distribution lists and rebuilt (same name) and old
members are still getting messages when I use this distribution
group. Can anyone help me understand why?? and propose a resolution??
it's driving me crazy and it's embarrassing as these are former
customers whom I don't want to be receiving this info.

Post your Outlook version, how you are deleting and recreating these DLs, and any other information we can't look over your shoulder to see what is happening. Also, have you tried renaming this DL and emptying your deleted items folder? Are you using autocomplete?

unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.
