Hi, Hope someone can help...
I have an existing pst I have been working with just fine. Out of the blue
outlook does not recognize the file. When I tried to expand it I got an
error message that it is not recocnized. I closed the PST and tried to open
it again but got the same message...

What version of Outlook? What size is the PST?

Have you tried scanning the PST for errors? Do a file/folder search for
scanpst.exe after closing Outlook. Double-click on scanpst.exe to run it and
follow the instructions. It will ask you to browse to your PST file so you
should know where it is. Let it run the scan, if it finds errors and repairs
them, run it again until it does a complete scan with no errors found. Then
open Outlook again.

Let me know if you still have problems.

Do you have any other pst files on your PC/laptop other than that one and
archive? Normally the default name of the pst is outlook.pst but obviously
you've renamed yours. What size is your PST file?
Are you scanning the file while Outlook is closed?

This is a pst I created and have been working with for months. I have other
pst's and they are fine.

This pst that I can not access no longer shows in outlook - I closed it and
tried to reopen it in outlook but then still got the error message.

I will try to scan with Outlook closed but i believe it is no longer
associated with outlook.

This particular PST I have troble with is only 7,000kb.

How did you close the file?

7,000 KB works out to be just over 6.5 MB (about 6.84) so definitely
something's in there. There are 1,024 KB to a MB just to give you a
perspective on the size.
