Outlook does not retain personalized settings

T

Tepee

Every time I start Outlook, it comes up with the default configuration. I
personalize it by adding/removing buttons and moving toolbars; but the next
time I start it, it goes back to the default settings. It used to retain my
preferences, but now it doesn't.The only thing I can think of tht
happened/changed recently was an aborted attempt to install XP-Pro SP2 (but
that's another story). Does anyone know which file/registry entry got
deleted/corrupted to cause this? Or how to get this capability back? tia

Reset the Toolbar; all Toolbar customizations will be lost and the Toolbar
will reset to what it looked like when you first installed Outlook. To do
this locate outcmd.dat and rename it to outcmd.old when Outlook is closed.
By default you can find it here;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
