Outlook doesn't install in Office XP student version

I installed (later re-installed) Office XP Student edition
on my wife's XP Home Edition computer. All components but
Outlook 2000 installed. That one didn't

For some reason, it did install on the third try. So far
as I know, I did everything all the same! Sorry to bother
you.
