Outlook doesn't send but Express does?

I just configured my Outlook 2002 to handle my gmail account. I receive
emails using Outlook 2002, however it is unable to send email messages. I
then configured Outlook Express with the same account settings and sending
works?? Any suggestions why I cannot get Outlook 2002 to properly send an
email?

I would ask google.com as there have been issues with sending via Outlook.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

I just sent e-mail through Outlook 2003 to gmail and to a hotmail account
and it worked perfectly.
