Outlook email intermittently asks for password

Has anyone else experienced where Outlook pops up and asks for the
user and password when the password and user name is the one that has
been in Outlook FOREVER!!

The problem may be that something breaks regarding the URL for the
outgoing email server. I just don't understand it. It happened today
where I had smtpout.secureserver.net for the outgoing mail server.
This is what I was given a long time ago by my host. I changed it to
the IP address and it worked right away. I then changed it to
mail.myhostname.com (where myhostname is the name I would use as my
URL address).

DNS problem potentially and possibly malware on top of that or antivirus
integration making things not work.

Anyway, you posted in the wrong forum. This one deals exclusively with
BCM problems and is monitored by very few people. Post in
microsoft.public.outlook.general instead where there are far more active
people reading it. :)

When you post in the correct forum, please specify versions of Windows,
Outlook, and antivirus software as well as whether this is Exchange,
POP3, HTTP, Deltasync, or IMAP4 account. Our answers are usually
version-specific.
