I have identified what appears to be a bug with the iCal sync capability in
Entourage. The bug manifests itself with all-day appointments when viewed in
Outlook, Entourage and iCal. This behavior appears to explain some of the
problems observed earlier by others in this newsgroup.

As far as I can determine, the cause of this bug is related to how timezones
are handled in Entourage. The behavior seems to be as follows (all settings
as displayed in Entourage. Outlook/Entourage sync via Exchange Server):

- an all-day event created in Outlook appears with no time zone in Entourage
and displays correctly.

- an all-day event created in Entourage is created with the Mac system time
zone (EST for me) and displays correctly.

- an all-day event created in iCal appears in Entourage with a timezone of
Casablanca (i.e. GMT) - regardless of the system timezone setting. When this
event displays in Outlook it is offset by the difference in timezones and
does not appear as an all day event.

I have observed on numerous occasions that my all-day appointments in
Outlook have been corrupted - becoming 24 hour appointments which span
8:00pm to 8:00pm. I think this is happening when the Entourage/iCal sync is
taking place. It appears that during this process, the iCal model for
all-day events is taking precedence and forcing these events to be stored in
Entourage with the wrong timezone.

Hopefully this information will help others with this problem and provide
enough information for Microsoft to fix in a future release.
