OUTLOOK ERROR - Terminate Message

I

Issam

Hello!

I have been using Outlook 2003(11.6359.6360) SP1 for more than six months
now without any problem. Just recently I am getting all sorts of problems:
- When trying to send a new email message the whole programs freezes and
then I am forced to use the ctrl-alt-del function to end the task of the
outlook application (which means I have to rewrite the message all over again)
- For no reason what’s so ever Outlook terminates giving a message that
reads something like this “MS Outlook detected a problem and needs to
terminate..†with option to send report to MS for support. Which I usually
allow it to (hoping to get some kind of feedback from MS – that is how I did
the SP1 update)
- Even though I got the SP1 update I am still getting the same problem.

I tried all sorts for solutions but still I am facing the same problems:
- I tried using detect and repair function in the help section
- I even uninstalled the entire office professional series and reinstalled
it again

I can’t seem to get what’s wrong.

I am sure there’s nothing wrong with my system (XP Pro SPII) because the
rest of my applications are working fine.

If you can direct me on what steps I need to take to at least detect what
the problem is and then how to try and solve it that would be great!

Thanks in advance of any help.

Regards,
Issam

Are you using outlook in "CACHED" mode? If yes, continue to read on..

There are 1 of 2 things you need to do. The first one first and the second
one after that if it does not fix your problem.

1. There is a tool from Microsoft called Inbox Repair tool. Download and run
that to see if it fixes your problem.

If not, then

2. You need to create a new offline file. Let me know if you need directions
to do this.

I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 crashing whenever I send and
receive!!. I tried several things with no results. Could you please advise
on how to make this offline file? I am not running Exchange. Just the
Outlook 2003 as part of Office 2003 package. Other functions in outlook,
like notes, contacts, etc.. works fine.. only when I hit send and receive
Outlook closes.. thanks

Thanks Sumeeth,
I am not sure what you mean by "CACHED", but I am just guessing
here...Outlook is installed on my local machine (standalone) and not thru
Exchange. I am going to try the repair tool you have mentioned below.
Meanwhile if you can point out how do an offline file that would be just
perfect!!
Thanks again for your quick reply!

Hi,

Did the inbox repair tool work? Since you are not using Outlook in tandem
with Exchange server (through the Exchange server connector) and using a
regular pop account, the "cached" mode is not an option. Let me know if the
tool worked.

Hi again!

Thanks again for the information; I did try the repair tool as suggested. It
took me a while before I was able to locate the tool itself. I thought I had
to downloaded it from Microsoft website only to find out that is hidden
within my system files (See the note below which I was able to get off
Microsoft site on how to locate and use the repair tool).

When I ran the tool, I was prompted that my files were corrupted and choose
to repair them (it takes a couple of minutes for the tool to work…I thought
there was something wrong but with a little paitance I got another pop-window
saying that repairs were successful.

I am going to try Outlook for a couple of days and see if it works because
it wasn’t crashing every time I hit the send/receive button. Will let you
know if all is ok in a couple of days (as it might be helpful for other users
out there)!

Thanks again for your help!

hello, Issam --

Inbox repair tool won't complete, can't fix all problems.

I don't know if I'm using Outlook in "CACHED" mode; I'm on a server at work.
