outlook.exe hangs

I am running windows xp pro and office 2002. When I close
outlook the process outlook.exe does not close. I cannot
logoff or shutdowm/restart without ending task on
outlook.exe. I have already reinstalled outlook which has
not changed the problem.

Any idea's how to rectify this problem?

have you tried created logging on to the computer with a
different user profile ,
if that doesnt try running outlook in safe mode then
closing down to do this go to start button run then type
outlook /safe
if it closes fine then one of your addins arent working
correctly
