outlook express address book GROUPS disappear

I have over 160 names in my address book under Shared Contacts. I create 5
groups and divided up the 160 names. For reasons I don't understand,
sometimes the names were copies from Shared Contact to the Group and remained
in both places. Sometimes the names were moved from Shared Contacts to the
Group and were only under the Group. 2 of the 5 groups spontaneously
disappeared. Is there some sort of limit? Is there anyway to work around
this? Does it happen with Outlook as well as Outlook Express. Thank you
very much for any help with this.

forum - it is not a part of Office, rather Internet Explorer.
