Outlook Express and Virus

My Event log stated that it had encountered the
Download.Troajan virus. After that Outlook Express V6
would crash and reboot the system when it was started.

I copied *.dbx to a backup device. Now, after copying the
*.dbx files back to the newly installed and operational
directory, the original dbx files are not recognized.

How do I access the old dbx files?
