outlook express corrupted

I am using Outlook express and my operating system is
Office XP. My Outlook Express became corrupted when I
downloaded powerpoint a few weeks ago and I can no longer
get it to work. Being a computer novice-how do I go
about fixing this or downloading a new Outlook.
Please help as I'm using my ISP's webmail which is
hopeless
