Outlook Express Deleting Messages On It's Own!!!

Since Microsoft isn't going to help me with this, maybe
one of you out there can help me! Outlook Express is
deleting messages from my Inbox by itself, I frequently
have to go to the Deleted Items folder to retrieve them,
and many times when I click on the Deleted Items folder,
it purges all the messages in that folder and the message
I wanted to retrieve is gone! It's getting very annoying,
I'm sick of losing messages that I want. I'm about ready
to go back to using hotmail on the Website, I don't
because I use Plaxo for my contacts (that's ANOTHER
issue!) Is there some way I can fix this?

Have you got "Compact in the Background" under Tools-Options-Maintenance
checked? If so, uncheck it. This option causes weird behaviour in OE.

Also check this out:

Also note:
This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!
