Outlook Express "losing" new emails

M

Mal

I hope someone can help, I have a problem with OU V5.5. I just upgraded to
OE 6 to fix the problem, but it persists.

1) All my existing "Inbox" messages now show as unopened and unread. New
messages are received fine and once opened and read the entries go from bold
to normal text and the mail icon changes appropriately. The problem is that
if I exit OE then reopen OE, these new messages are missing from inbox. The
old messages are still present, unless I open them and exit OE.

At first I thought the messages had been lost but I have performed searches
for the missing mails - and they are still present. I just cannot see them
in my "Inbox" view.

I have just upgraded from V5.5 to V 6 - the problem persists.

I would appreciate any helpful suggestions but please note:

1) I do not want to upgrade my OS (I have a 300 MHz PC which would struggle
with anything more modern

2) I do not have a Windows CD.

TIA,

Mal

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002 & 2003 from the
Office
family for Intel PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of OE

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

BTW, this newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003(beta) from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

1) "View-Current View-All Messages"

Wow, thank you. Yes, "Hide read messages" was selected. I would never have
found it.

2) "For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup . . . "

Thank you for putting me straight, I really thought I was in the right shop.
Hopefully I won't have any more OE questions, but if I do I know where to
go.
