Outlook Express Spell Checker no workie!

I just installed Me / XP Home Addition and then Office 97. I can't
get my spell checker to work, it says there was an error during the spell
check...but the error window comes up as soon as I select "spell check".
Thanks for any info.....cause I"m lost.

Me or XP?
Outlook Express is part of InternetExplorer, not Office; try the relevant
OE/IE group.

Actually my spell checker doesn't get that far....it won't work at all? It
