Outlook Express--unable to view attachments

Apologies in advance; I normally use Outlook. In OE6 (win
me), when a message is received with an attachment (such
as a pdf), OE is automatically stripping it off and
claiming that it is unsafe. Any assistance on pointing me
to the appropriate setting to change to stop this behavior
would be much appreciated.
