Outlook Express vs. Outlook

My understanding is that Outlook is more powerful with notes, tasks, and a
calendar. I want the easiest choice for home use, which means email. I use
my palm pilot for the calendar and tasks.

I have recently switched to Outlook Express because from Outlook was
problematic. The emails functionality is working fine but how do I access
alternative calendar and tasks functions?

I had three email/ISP addresses connected to outlokk and one of these kept
interfering when I tried to reply to or forward an email, irrespective of the
ISP that I was connected to. When I specifically instructed Outlook to
search for only one email, it continued to search the problematic address, so
I switched across to OE and presto, no problems. The only downside is now I
have no calendar or task functionality. :-(

Hi Liz,

I'm willing to help you and get Outlook working correctly so you can enjoy
it fully. The only thing is that you don't give me much to work with. Could
you define "interfering" and "specifically instructed" to start with? What
is your version of Outlook and do you get any error messages when things do
not work as expected to you? Also, are these 3 different ISP's, 3 different
mailboxes at the same ISP or 3 aliasses on one mailbox?

Regards,

HI Roady,
Thanks for your offer to help. The version I am using is MS Outlook 2002
(SP-1) - even though I have downloaded SP2 (?). I have 3 email address on
seperate servers (with seperate ISPs) and always receive an error message
from the attglobal email address. Even when I specifically remove this email
form the send/receive group, Outlook continues to search for email from this
address. As a result, I cannot forward or reply to any email irrespective of
the email address to which it was originally sent. I hope that makes sense
and that you can help. Thanks again

Hi Liz,

To start with your first issue (SP not showing up correctly) you can start
updating straight away; Service Pack 3 is available already ;-)

What is the error you get from attglobal? Is this related to your
configuration or do they experience a lot of downtime? Did you remove the
account from checking sned/receive or did you exclude it alltogether? You
can see if a reset on the Send/Receive groups works for you. For this close
Outlook and do a search for *.srs (include hidden files/folders) and rename
it to .old

HI Roady,

WHen I try send/receive email using only ATT via my current ISP, OUTLOOK
receives but when it comes to sending, it falters and gives the following
message:

Task 'pop5.attglobal.net - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC69) : 'Unknown Error 0x800CCC69'

I have been receiving this message for maybe one year (come to think of it,
I suspect this problem started when I added the second email account and
tried to use another ISP to send/receive email ?? not sure) and despite
several emails and phone calls to ATT, there was no solution. My new ISP is
OPTUS Broadband, which provides the third email address so this is the one I
am now using - they spent almost 40 mins on the phone with me and suggested
it was a problem with Outlook, so I decided to surrender and move onto OE.

As for SP#, I am currently trying to access and download it - fingers crossed.
Thanks again

Do you have a virusscanner that scans outgoing e-mail? Disable this
integration and see if the error still occurs.
