Outlook Fails Sync of OST

W

Warren Guffey

I have a laptop user on the network who we have set to use Outlook offline
and his email should sync every time he exits the application. This appears
to be working as we watch the progress but any new items are not downloading
to the .ost. If I select the "Inbox" and F9 it seems to work fine; just not
when he exits the program or I "Send/Receive All".

Any ideas?

I'm seeing a similar issue on my own laptop. I'm running outlook 2003 on XP.
If I'm in "online" mode, when I press Send/Receive or F9, all folders show
that they are synced. But if I exit and come back in "work offline" mode, I
don't have any new emails. If i press F9 or Send/Receive, nothing syncs.
But if I choose "This Folder", it will sync the one folder I have displayed.

In order for me to sync my entire OST, I have to log into outlook using
"work offline" mode, visit each folder individually, and click Shift/F9 (or
"Send/Receive This Folder").

Could be related to the fact that I had cached exchange mode turned on to
start with, hated it, then turned it off. I *think* the problem started
around that time.

Any help would be appreciated. I've seen a number of posts reporting this
problem, but haven't found a posted solution yet.

I am not 100% but I believe if you are running user cache mode then it will
not sync with the Exchange server even on leaving. You would have to call
the server with send/recieve. I would turn that off and see what happens.
