Outlook file problems [JSF]

Joseph Ferraro

I had to one of my computers repaired, and as a result had to do a complete
reinstallation of all the software. I am now having a problem with Outlook
2003.

The directory where the outlook.pst file is located is not the default
directory, and I cannot find where I can set it. I have done it in the past,
but cant seem to remember or find where to set the default.

I am also having a problem with the Contact folder, when I hit the little
address book in a new email, I get an error message that the file cannot be
found, it was either moved or deleted, yet I can add items to the Contact
list.

I would appreciate any help that you can provide.

Thanks
Joe Ferraro

Did you save your .pst file and then paste it into your new OS installation?
The .pst file does not have to be in any particular location and, as a
matter of fact, I usually recommend that people put it in My Documents so it
will be backed up regularly.

In Outlook, use File->Open->Outlook Data File and open your .pst file to get
everything back to normal. If you can't find your .pst file, turn on
searching hidden files and folders. Once located, open it using the
previous instruction.

If the address book problem persists after this, then try creating a new
mail profile - Control Panel->Mail Icon->Profiles->New. Do not copy the old
profile, it is corrupt. THen configure Outlook to use your .pst file you
saved.
