Outlook Folders Gone!

I have lost a couple of my folders from my inbox. They were not in the
deleted items after they vanished. Furthermore, I updated my antivirus and
scanned, I deleted all of the spyware programs with no avail. The size of
the PST is only 320 MB. I am afraid those folders are gone, but how can I
prevent this from happening agian. This has already happend three times.

What do you do immediately prior to this happening? What version of
Outlook?

It is Outlook 2002. There was nothing specfic done prior to the folders
disappearing. Perhaps replying to a message.
