Outlook Folders Missing

Our IT department recently changed our local network server. After the
migration of data was complete and my PC was reconnected, I accessed Outlook
as usual but my personal email folder (password protected) and my archive
folder with 6 years of documents just disappeared. All the other email
folders were in tact. The IT folks have searched my local drive and can not
find a trace of either folder. It seems hard to believe that these folders
could just evaporate. Has anyone had this problem before & what was your
solution?

Both of the files you are looking for are Outlook data files, with a file
extension of .pst. The files are usually hidden so unless they searched for
hidden files/folders, they may not have located them.

Without knowing what your O/S is, I can't tell you the exact location.

What I would suggest is to make sure that you can view hidden files &
folders and that you also unhide file extensions for known file types (all
done in Windows Explorer), then search for *.pst. Your default personal
folder file should be called outlook.pst and your archived mail is usually
called archive.pst unless they have been deliberately renamed to something
else.

They probably all applied a script to recreate your mail profile then. To
reconnect your original archives, use File->Open-> Outlook Data File... and
browse to the location where you stored your pst-files. Outlook will
automatically open in the default location, so if you didn't change the path
yourself; that's where they should be.

If your IT department also included deleting all items from the local
Outlook folder in their script, then your archive would be gone as well.

I have encountered the similar problem some days before. I found a
good tool called Advanced Outlook Repair. You can download a free demo
version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe . I think it is a
useful repair tool for you. It is easy to recover your PST file by
using its wizard. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders
and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST
files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
