Outlook going very slow

I have noticed lately that my Outlook will start up fine
but after a while it will then start acting very slow with
even the simpilest of tasks. My PST file is only 60 MB's.
I have also noticed that even with Outlook only opened
once, after doing some work, I can look in task manager
and see 2 copies of Outlook.exe running. I am running
Office XP on a high spec PC with Xp Pro.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I found the answer.

In Tool, Option, Advanced, there is an option to have
Instant Messaging which I have now turned off. This seems
to have made the difference.
