outlook gone?

Dell tech support told me bad harddrive, get what i can backed up as soon as
possible... sending me new harddrive & I want ALL my datafiles... I'm trying
to search for pst files, and windowsxp keeps trying to configure
office2003... If i were to use the install disk (and by chance it works) and
re-install outlook, will my most recent appointments, contacts, and emails be
recovered?
ANY SUGGESTIONS...

Are you doing a simple file search, to include hidden, for *.pst?
By default in;
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
