Outlook Hangs for large IMAP messages

I recently configured Outlook to take advantage of the
IMAP functionality of my mail server. I like it very
much, however, when I recieve my messages, very large
messages (like those with attachments) will hang Outlook
as soon as I click them. I suspect that Outlook is trying
to access the whole of the E-Mail, including the
attachment, in order to present a preview. Is there any
way to set up Outlook to show the text part of the
message without accessing the attachments, then later
download the attachments if I want to?
