Outlook inbox/preview pane scrolling issue

When in Outlook 2000 I have the screen split between the
inbox on the top and the preview pane on bottom. If I
scroll down a open e-mail string in the preview pane the
emails in my inbox in the upper half of my screen also
scroll down.

Is there a setting or is there something wrong with
Outlook?
