outlook keeps shuting down when another application is opened

Hi All,
My problem with outlook is, when it is launched and i try
to open up another application such as word etc. Outlook
automatically shuts down. Therefore i have to keep re
opening it.

My system runs windows xp, with outlook 2003.

Any tips or help will be greatly appriecated
