Outlook kills my Word

My Word is killed immediately when I try to write something on a document.
This happen as long as Outlook is running.
Even if I stop Outlook, I have to stop its background running, too. Then I
can use Word.
I reinstalled the whole system Win XP and Office Pro 2003 - and the problem
still exists.
The only thing that is old in the system is the pst-file for Outlook on a
different server. Can this cause the problem?
Do I have to destroy all my old correspondence?

Sounds like you are suffering from more than one issue here. What exactly is
being logged to the Event Viewer?

Outlook doesn't run as a background process. When it does after closing
Outlook it simply means that another process is locking the Outlook process.
To troubleshoot this see;

Also note that storing pst-files on a network share is unsupported practise
by Microsoft although it works in many situations.

-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

Thank you for yr advice.
I removed Faxserver as an optional service in Outlook and it seemed to help.
This option had been installed together with Win XP installation.
