Outlook mail stuck in outbox

Help, please this is driving me crazy

Windows 2000 using Outlook 2000 on a Linux platform.

Email sticks in my outbox and fails to deliver mail, this
seems to occur nearly everyday at 5:00pm.

One workaround I use is to drag the mail to drafts and
resend, this work's sometimes, another is to close down
Outlook and re open, this works a little better but is not
an absolute fix, can anyone help me.

Does anything happen to your mail server around that time of day (end of the
work day?)?
