My Outlook would not delete or move emails until I freed up space. I had to
delete emails to get outlook to run right. Is there a certain amount of free
space in Outlook or is it based on your individual computer.

Depends on WHICH version of Outlook that you use but which you neglected
to mention.

ANSI .pst file: 2GB max size
Unicode .pst file: 20GB max size (by default but can be set higher in
registry)

So you will have to figure out which version of Outlook that you use to
know which version of the PST file that it will support.

What version of outlook do you have? Outlook 2002 and older are limited to
about 1.9GB pst size, and you are limited to the number of items per folder-
from about 14000 to 65000.

If you make a new pst in outlook 2003 or 2007, you can store virtually
unlimited items per folder and the pst can grow up to 3 TB.
