I can find no reference to this problem anywhere, so it may be hopeless.
Outlook 2002. WinXP. All service packs and updates are installed. This
occurs with Word as email editor or not. HTML, RTF makes no difference.
Arial 10pt was the selected font of choice for email. Coincidentally that
same font is the one used in Word normal.dot, in FrontPage, and in Internet
Explorer.
Start a new Outlook message. Type...type...type... After a minute or so,
the font suddenly changes for all the text I have typed, as well as
subsequent typing, to Times New Roman 10pt. Or type a little and then go
for a cup of coffee. Come back and the same thing. TNR where I had typed
in Arial 10. If I select all, then change to Arial 10, I can finish the
message without it changing again. HOWEVER, the message received by my
addressee is TNR 10pt!
Same thing happens when I reply to a message. Unless the original was in
plain text, my reply will similarly switch to TNR.
I changed my new message default to plain text, and that works OK without
the spontaneous font change. However replies still have the same problem.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2002. Also uninstalled
2002, deleted the remnants of the program in program files, deleted all
normal.dot, and then reinstalled and updated. Same.
I have CA eTrust antivirus and also have Ad-Aware Plus running. My computer
is for business, and there are no children using it. I Hate Spam is
installed as a spam filter, although I tried both with and without it with
no difference. As I mentioned, Word or Outlook as message editor makes no
difference either.
Other programs on the computer: Roxio 7, Paint Shop Pro 9, Photoshop 7,
Photoshop Elements 2, Noise Ninja 2, Studio 9, Adobe Premiere 6.5,
QuickBooks Pro 2003, Sonic My DVD. In all honesty, I cannot connect the
start of the problem with any software installation, but it is possible.
I've had most of these programs for quite a while, but then I've had the
problem for quite a while also.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated--and tried. I'm not one of those,
"it can't be that, so I won't try it" people!
