Outlook message rules

Mike

I have a pop account with an ISP. From this account I have
several email alias's, this allows me to have several
email address's for different poeple in the household. In
the past I have used Outlook Express and configured the
message rules so that only that persons email will be
downloaded from the server. But the option "Do not
Download it from the server" is not available in Outlook.
Why can I configure OE but not Outlook?

Help Please

You CAN change the settings -- it's just "different" (and
not as friendly as OE (surprise!))

In Outlook (I'm using 2003), choose TOOLS then
SEND/RECEIVE then SEND/RECEIVE SETTINGS then DEFINE
SEND/RECEIVE GROUPS.
You will probably have 1 acct (only?) called ALL ACCOUNTS.
Make sure it is highlighted and click EDIT. There is a
panel going down the left-hand side - showing all the e-
mail accounts in this group. Click on one whose e-mail
you do NOT want automatically downloaded -- then UNcheck
the RECEIVE MAIL ITEMS checkbox. Repeat this for each
account whose mail you do not want downloaded. Click OK
then click CLOSE. From now on -- that e-mail account can
only be downloaded if the user goes TOOLS - SEND/RECEIVE -
selects their account and choose INBOX. It works.

Are these actually all aliases of the same mailbox on the ISP's server, or
really separate mailboxes on the server?

"Because Outlook wasn't designed to allow that" is a reasonable assumption.
